First Field Trip

Savannah & Skylar's pre-k class went on a field trip to the fire station today and I was able to meet them there. They were the quietest bunch of 4 year olds I have ever seen!!!!

Going To Texas!!!

Saturday morning, I told Savannah we were going to the State Fair of Texas. I pulled up the website and let her hear the recording of Big Tex and told her all about the animals that she could see & pet as well as the food and rides there.

All the way there, she kept asking us where Texas was and any time she tells someone where we went this weekend, she says "Texas." In front of Big Tex

A special birthday

We had my grandmother's 89th birthday party on Sunday. There was wonderful cake, family, friends and fun!!! Even with Mama D's sprained arm and Aunt Jimmie's black eye, they had a great time.

I am back!!!

Well, it has been 4 months since I last posted anything and what a time it has been! Since my last post, I had 7 cortisone shots to try and shrink the blood vessels that fed my tumor, a bout with pneumonia and an emergency root canal!!!!

They shots worked, sort of , but by the middle of July, they decided that the shots were not working and I was sent to the oral surgeon at Baylor School of Dentistry. He ended up doing a second surgery on August 18th and I am tumor free.

Everything was benign and I am not expected to have any more problems.

Savannah has started Pre-K and loves every minute. She is especially proud because she and her cousin Skylar are in the same class. They get to take ballet together every Tuesday and in the mean time, they figure out how they are going to each other's house or at Grammy and Gramps!!

Ok, so reality hit me smack in the face today. With everything going on lately, somehow I had it in my head that we only two weeks of school, when it is actually THREE!! What a let down. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind my job, but summer is due and I am ready. These last several weeks have been busy and stressful.

Thankfully, God reminded me today that He give us peace and rest. I need both. My prayer is that I find them each and every moment, especially during these last days of school before summer.

I didn't break anything

Savannah stopped in the hall on Wednesday, before we left for church and said "Momma, you don't need to go in the living room, I didn't break anything." Of course, my first reaction was to laugh, but that soon turned into asking my self what did she break?

After she told me that she didn't want a spanking and she was ready to go to church, I convinced her that she needed to show me what was broken. I couldn't find anything and she finally told me that it was her Hungry, Hungry Hippo game. It didn't seem broken, but it was wet. She confessed that she had been cleaning it with her Capri Sun drink.

I am finding that I am having to watch her a little closer these days. Her sense of curiosity and independent nature are colliding. Fortunately, she has a conscience and usually comes to tell me what she has done before I find out on my own.
